About Us

PDR is a group dedicated to flying radio controlled FPV (first person view) aircraft. We are based in Portland, Oregon, but our events draw pilots from all over the Pacific Northwest. We build, race, and inevitably crash our own custom-built high-performance drones, wearing VR-like goggles that allow us to see from the aircraft's perspective, giving us the feel of being "in the cockpit". Our races are completely free to attend and we offer help & support for new pilots. Our primary outdoor racing season is March through October of each year, with special indoor races scheduled in the winter whenever possible.

Attend a race - free!

If you're interested in FPV racing, attending an official race is a great way to see for yourself what it's all about. Spectators are always free! Check out our Upcoming Events for the next official race.

Most of our outdoor races are held at our official home field. Check the Calendar, as location information will be published about a week before race day.

Tips for attending your first race

  1. First and foremost - yes, come watch a race! We love to show off what we do to newcomers, answer questions, and introduce new people to racing.
  2. It's never a bad idea to stop by our Discord community and let us know you're planning on coming. Sometimes races get rescheduled or cancelled due to weather.
  3. Our home field is just that - a field. Bring your own shade, a picnic blanket or lawn chair, and snacks, and dress for the weather. Also, there are no bathrooms on-site.
  4. Kids are absolutely welcome.
  5. Once you arrive onsite, feel free to come up and introduce yourself to the pilots, check out people's gear, and ask questions. The main safety rule is to stay well clear of the course when there are drones in the air. We will guide you through the rest of the rules and best practices when you are here.
